    Thinking about a metal roof.

Lifetime GAF shingles are only covered for 15 years for wind damage. I don’t think they will replace your roof if it starts blowing off in 13 years.

    Thinking about a metal roof.

Back in the 1992 I put 30 year dimensional asphalt shingles on a building. In about 12 years they started blowing off. They weren’t sealing down. Warranties don’t mean anything. A roofer saw mine and stopped to talk to me. He put the same shingles on his house and they were blowing off too. He...

    Thinking about a metal roof.

Two plumbing vent pipes on the back of the house. They’re close enough to the peak that we don’t have to worry about snow wiping them out. On the garage I used a cheater inside plumbing vent so I wouldn’t have anything coming thru the roof. The shingles are Edco Arrowline. Expensive! About 12...

    Alaska sheep closure

In 2008 I killed a sheep in 19c. $11,000. In the late 80’s I killed two caribou bulls in northern Quebec. $1,300. Now you can’t do either.

    Winter Conditions so far…

You need to look it up. I don’t think they know for sure. Global warming causing insects in the calving area because of warming temps. Wolves following into the calving areas because of the warmer temperatures. Environmental changes caused by humans. Hunting.

    Winter Conditions so far…

Not about Wyoming or antelope or mule deer but in the late 80’s I caribou hunted in Quebec. We flew from Montreal to Scheffervile. At that time they said that five thousand hunters were being flown in during the season to hunt caribou. 6 man camp $1300 dollars each. We killed 11 bulls.Caribou...

    Cannibalist Muley

Whitetails will eat the stomach contents from gut piles in the late seasons when there’s lots of snow. The dead deer gathered all the food and the other deer just take it for an easy meal.

    WHO'S BEEN TRAPPED OR SNARED???

Was trapping coons along a corn field one time. Private property with permission. Checked the traps and had two coons in snares that were tore to shreds. Figured it was dogs. Checked the next day and all the snares and traps were gone. Talked to the landowner and he said he saw lights out there...

    WHO'S BEEN TRAPPED OR SNARED???

Caught a big Rottweiler while coon trapping one time.Little 11/2 coil spring had him by two toes. My brother and I went home and made a catch pole and brought back a tarp . Pinned him with the catch pole and put the tarp over his head and stepped on each side and released him. We were worried...

Your last hunt … where and for what?

Spent two weeks on the south end of Kodiak and killed a B&C brown bear. Hunted moose in the Yukon and called a bull moose in and killed him at 60 yards.Guide let me hunt by myself. I’d have to flip a coin between brown bear and moose. The wilderness on both hunts is the attraction.

    Trash n the woods

I was around for the tail end of that period when people threw their trash out the window. I had kind of forgotten about that. It was shocking to see adult men do that in Newfoundland in a pristine environment.

    Trash n the woods

My brother and I hunted moose in Newfoundland. Flew into a camp on a lake. Each of us had a packed lunch and everyday the guides just threw their trash on the ground after they ate. Hunted the Yukon for moose.Flew into a little lake that had a little stream feeding it that connected to...

    Geothermal Heat Pump

One thing I would look at is not just the initial cost but how long before you have to replace a lot of the components. I built 6 years ago and decided against it. I had talked to a contractor that decided to do it and he said he wouldn’t do it again.High upfront costs and by the time he...

Peace River Alberta for Big Whitetails

When I was up there I hunted with an outfitter. Whitetails were in pockets here and there but you had to travel long distances to find them. The whitetails are susceptible to winter kill up there so the population fluctuates.

    Shipping cost

In 2005 I shipped a brown bear hide and skull from Kodiak to Ohio. One day air $500. Got home before I did. Shipped in a plastic garbage can. I should have gotten another garbage can and shipped myself in it.

    LET'S TALK ELECTRIC/OBAMA VEHICLES???

I read that battery life is reduced 41% when the temperature is 20 degrees or colder and you use the heater. Charging time is also longer in cold weather. I wonder how that would work when temperatures drop below 0.

Never. Two checked by biologists. Taxidermists giving estimates. We can have young bucks in our area with pretty good racks. I missed a buck Nov.6 th.that probably scores 140. Lots of trail cam pictures. I would say 21/2 years. Can not send in a tooth but you can look at the body and tell.
