Thanks for the info Bobby. I thought i had read somewhere about the roads being bad, i will bring the chains. I didnt realize it was a closed road unit. Makes me wonder if i should bring a cart? Bike? Thoughts anyone?

Please don't stone me but I am a NR and I have never set foot in unit 2. It was my 3rd choice and I am pumped to just get the opportunity to chase bulls this year in New Mexico. I am just wondering what to expect? Weather? Road conditions? Pressure? Quantity and or quality of animals...

If you can find unit wide 34 bull tags for $4k put me down for 2. They are going for much more. The landowner tag prices have spiralled out of control since SB196. Supply and demand. They aren't worth the money anymore

Thanks guys. I figured it was pretty tough and i dont expect a monster buck. Thats why it was my 3rd choice. Road hunters i didnt count on. Seems like each year that passes there is more and more of that and i see it everywhere not just in NM. Lots of people are lazy.

My immediate family (myself,wife & kids) drew 3 bull elk tags and my card was still refunded over $14k! NM is tough on us poor NR's. Seriously though i love Hunting in NM and wish i hadnt got a penny back.

Wife drew first choice elk and my son and I both drew our second choice elk. All NR! Thank you New Mexico

I sure wish someone would develop a site to rate outfitters. I have seen my share of bad ones. Even had one file bankruptcy 1 week before our hunt, right after he got our final payment.

So your saying that unit wide and ranch only vouchers are grouped together as "private"? Seems like they should be seperate especially in regards to success percentages. Seems like they intentionally fail to break down the landowner vouchers by hunt and/or voucher type. Out of sight, out of mind?

I did add them up and the numbers are staggering.

Do harvest reports reflect the unit-wide landowner tags issued? It doesnt appear that they do. And if not why not? Is there any way to determine the number of landowner tags issued on a given hunt?
