Yep, all ready. I'm gonna head up to the snowline(hopefully) and glass until my eyes hurt, then glass some more.

What a nice buck, I'd love to have him on my wall! Rifle kill or archery?

    Slide Ridge Late Permit

Thanks, yeah fog can really make it tough. I plan on doing some scouting but it's tricky when the deer I'll be hunting in November are still for the most part further in now. Anybody on here ever had this tag? Thanks again.

    Slide Ridge Late Permit

Well, luck was on my side finally and I drew Slide Ridge A this year. My plan is to spend close to two weeks up there searching for a good one. I'm hoping for something with lots of mass and pushing 170 or better. I've hunted this area some, but never in November. Any advice you guys could shoot...

    Okanogan wildfires

I'm trying to decide which units to apply in for a late buck tag. Can anybody out there tell me if most of the burns were in Chewuch or Pearygin? Thanks

    Idaho help

Here's my advise for you. It's too late for this year but next spring apply for Montana. If you have little experience hunting the west this is a great place to start. Look to the east part of the state, there's plenty of public land and accessible private. There's tons of deer, you'll be...

SW North Dakota / NW South Dakota

Thanks again for the info, sounds like a do-able hunt. I love hunting that open prairie country for mule deer.

SW North Dakota / NW South Dakota

Thanks for the suggestions. I have thought of Wyoming and the SD Blackhills but I'm seriously looking to hunt mule deer. Not much BLM in NE Wyoming. What about the SD Blackhills tag, is it mule deer country? Thanks again.

SW North Dakota / NW South Dakota

I'm thinking of applying for these areas as a backup if Montana doesn't come through this year. Anybody out there know the odds of drawing a nonresident tag? Also is there much BLM land or is it strictly private? Any advise or comments would really help.

    WA elk scouting photos 9-25

Nice looking elk for sure. Just don't say where they are, some "native americans" will be up there the next day to have those bulls wacked and stacked before the permit holders even get a crack at them. It's sweet when you finally draw after years of applying and while driving up to set camp you...

    Washington special permits are up!!!!!!

MULEYMIKEY!!!! I can't believe you couldn't even get a congratulations out of these guys! DESERT A! You lucky dog. I hope you will give updates on your hunt. You had better start practicing trigger control right now... Hold out for a monster!

    Washingtons Dungeness Elk Area

Thanks for the info. I think you're right, access will definitely be an issue. From what I understand, most of the landowners dislike the elk but still don't want to see them get killed. My work is cut out for me! If it works out the pics will be posted.

    Washingtons Dungeness Elk Area

I drew out for Dungeness E, Any bull, Sept. 1-30. It's an elk area just outside of Sequim composed of private land so the hunt will be a damage deal. I plan on heading over there to do my own leg work but if anybody has info to share that would be great...

    Wa Sept. High Buck Hunt

The high buck hunt is a great time to be in the mountains. Make sure you have a bear tag! Like Ridge said, most of the area will see hunting pressure. It's pretty tough to find a place to yourself, I've tried. Even on remote no trail mountains there still always seems to be another guy. Between...

That would be cool. I've been looking for a forum for the NW with no luck. This is the closest I've found.

    Washingtons Quinalt Ridge

Falcon, Thanks for the info. I can't believe you said it but Little Naches is already on my mind, applied there last year. Any bull is a good bull it's just the appeal of a big Rosie that makes me look to the peninsula. A few months ago there was a picture in F&H news of a guy who had drawn that...

    Washingtons Quinalt Ridge

Thanks for all the info. Sounds like Falcon is the guy, if he's interested in helping. I do know that the early season is for AHE grads which I am. I'm also going into the draw this year with 9 bonus points so I really want to be confident in an area before I burn them...

    Washingtons Quinalt Ridge

Has anyone hunted this unit? Looks like the early rifle season produces quite well and I would love a nice Roosevelt. I drove the unit recently and sort of dis-liked it mainly because I'm not sure how one would hunt it effectively? Looks like lots of dark timber and a little bit of prime river...

    Idaho Mule Deer Hunt

I've hunted 39 a few times. Lots of deer, not a ton of big bucks. If I were you I'd go the last week of the season and hope for snow. Then be ready to put some serious miles on your boots in extremely steep terrain, the bucks are there. I'd be doing it this year if I hadn't drawn Montana. Good...

    Washington goat points?

I'm with you ridgerunner. I hope we can pull tags before there is none. I think that might be coming quicker than we all realize. It's a shame when you compare now to how many tags there use to be, the goats are not doing well. As far as which unit to go for that's tough. Any would be good...

    Montana goat unit 313

Thanks for the info. I love the rocks as long as I can get to them. Could I backpack it from the road or would packing in be the best choice?

    Washington goat points?

Thanks for the info, maybe I do stand a chance at the draw! I'll be going in with 10 goat points and 6 each for sheep and moose. Also 9 for elk and 8 for deer.

    Washington goat points?

Just curious if anyone on here has drawn a goat tag in Washington. If so, how many points you had when you drew? I'm still applying, this year with 10 points...

    Montana bonus points

You have to apply. I assume you're talking sheep/moose/goat. If so you can apply for a unit that isn't listed on the application for non-residents and know you won't draw yet still gain a point.

    Washington Desert Unit

If a kid is that dedicated to trophy hunting then by all means, put in for the desert. But why should they have SPECIAL TAGS ONLY FOR YOUTH? The guy who said it was right, too many of these bucks are going to be wacked and the unit will start slipping. It's a shame.

    Washington Desert Unit

Well I'm glad to see there's others that share my point of view. Now we all wait to see if this proposed hunt actually happens. I feel like I appreciate hunting more for all the hard work it has taken me. I remember as a kid thinking I'd never ever get my first buck. When I finally did get that...

    Washington Desert Unit

Has anyone noticed the proposed youth hunts for the desert unit? I hope they get shot down in this weekends WDFW meeting. I'm all for giving our youth special opportunities, just not in a states premier permit only areas.

    Montana goat unit 313

Does anybody know this unit? I've been applying here for 2 years and was recently told that access could be an issue. Is most of the goat country locked behind private land? Any help would be great.
