The rut is going to wipe out the big bucks during the late hunt. Road hunters killed two points during the early season. If you want to gripe about killing old deer take aim at the number of late season tags.

Thank you for the update. Fair assessment of unit 8 in my opinion. From what I heard this archery season was more difficult than the average here in AZ.

In 2014, we used them for the late rifle elk hunt in Unit 8. We got a 6x6 and a 7x7. It was a dry year and big bulls were hard to find that year. They worked very hard to make us happy. They possess generations of family experience guiding in Arizona, too. I would highly recommend them. -Jason Volk

Unsure about unit 77 Idaho being the "promised land of mule deer". We hunted SE corner of Idaho last year and we were greatly disappointed. We had better luck in unit 76. That being said there were very few bucks. However, we did see tons of fawns. My guess is there will be a big crop of two...

If you are looking for a high scoring bull your best bet would be archery in my opinion. However, if you are a rifle hunter you should consider the late hunts. These rifle hunts here are a blast. Unit 8 is 95% public land. Consider sharing your points with your best hunting buddy and applying...

My Dad drew 12AW Early rifle with 8 points (resident). And my son and I drew Sandhills unit 28.

The bucks are stacked in the highest elevations. Stacked!! Honestly, I must have seen sixty bucks in three days. However, when I started lower I saw fewer and fewer deer. And they are staying in cover until about six o'clock in the evening. Evenings were better than mornings for me.

RE: Credit card update ? It worked for me when I used the copy function on my computer (from my email receipt) then pasted the long series of numbers into the form on the AZ website.

BradA, For unit 12AW in 2018 it took the following points to draw a late season tag in the bonus pass: Resident =15 points Non-resident =19 points Like you said most hunts do have the random draw portion of tags as well.

In my opinion, your nine points are much better spent on the early Kaibab hunt. There are going to some huge bucks taken there this year. Just be prepared to walk. Next year apply for a coues deer tag right on the Mexican border. There's a great age class of bucks down there because it's a tiny...
