Took the tag! Here goes nothing…lots of recommendation for red castle. Anyone else have input on areas that might be more conducive to archery gear? Swasey lakes? Garfield basin? Flat Top? I have access to horses and pack goats. Planning a 7-10 day hunt.

Just got a phone call today that I am next in line for the archery tag. Trying to figure out if I should accept it being so close to season. Have 9 points so I’m a few years out from draw with max points… anyone been up into red castle area as of late? Goats around? Would you take the tag? Also...

Buckhorn thanks for the Intel. I've spent a few days the last few weeks looking around. Haven't had to much luck yet but i am hopeful with the weather the bucks will show up.

With the past few storms has 44 recieved any snow on Fulford or on top of Hardscrabble? Have a 2nd season tag and early scouting efforts revealed that this will be a hunt and not a walk in the park.

RE: 44 second last year Awesome buck! Congrats to your son. Everyone says that they stay in the thick stuff... the whole unit seems thick haha. Im excited to hit it hard for the whole season. Come on snow!

I have a second season tag. I'll let you know how I do. If there is no snow in Oct do you guys still reccomend the same areas or do I go high up around fulford?

I also drew archery with 8 points. I've never been out to the Books. I am planning my first trip next week to learn a few of the roads and lay out. I'm in Heber. If anybody wants to split gas and scout this summer pm me. I'm excited to learn all about the Book Cliffs.

Smitty pretty much nailed it. Try the south end of Dutton around the dump and airport. They are like jack rabbits down there.

what area were you in that you didn't see any elk? I have also heard a few descent bulls are around. I have hopefully gained access to some of the private land also. I'm getting excited to watch my wife drop one!
