Go spend some time on the beaver unit then you will know what low deer numbers are. Compared to some units the extended areas still hold more deer.

The elk are doing great in the unit, they are everywhere. Even with antlerless elk hunts the beaver is still over objective on elk. I see elk where i used to see mule deer.

When scouting for mule deer, how much time do you spend in any one area. In the morning do you sit one basin in hopes to see one come out. or do you hit as many as possible before they make their way back to the trees. If your morning scout is a bust do you look for other areas in the evening...

There are definitely cwmu's that have "public" included. I dont agree with it, especially if it is not land locked. I too came across a piece of land that on a paper map shows state land. But with onX it shows as part of a cwmu. Very tricky.

I agree with shortening the hunt dates. 5 days For rifle hunt. Get rid of the early rifle hunt. Get rid of the late muzzy hunts. Our deer herds need a rest, right now they are pounded from August to November. Cut tags. I would gladly pay double the price of a tag even triple and not hunt deer...
