Well, I did'nt want to be one of those guys posting on here and not following up with results. I am beyond blessed to have taken this mature Bull on my hunt! My Dad was for sure looking down on me during the draw and Hunt. Thanks to my guide Ryan and Jeremy at Timberline Outfitters Tonapah!! It...
Buckxmaster wrote in the thread where he posted the pic.... "This Bull was not coming in to any calls, so we decided to stalk.. we got to 81 yards and I made the shot between aspens 2' apart, a pass through double lung shot, the Bull went 30 yards and was Done! A hunt of a lifetime for sure!"
Heading up to scout end of August, first week in Sept. to see what grade of bulls are running around and get somewhat the lay of the land. The new onx terrain X is an amazing tool and I have figured some areas with vantage points to spot in through the canyons. Thinking about taking a fold up...
Thanks for the reply, this year the archery is 9/17-30, so kinda sounds like some bulls will be cowed up by this time. Looking forward to the Screemn Bulls!
Thanks for the insight guys. I drew a Nevada 161-164 archery elk this year as well, so I will hunt Wyoming probably the last 8-10 days of October on a DIY hunt hoping to find a bull within leg range.
Well, up until this year I have not been a lucky drawer! The good Lord has blessed me with this archery permit, and one in 97-1 Wyoming... Now to make it all come together!
Thanks guys, So during the Rut the Elk are 10 miles in. The hunt goes to Oct. 31, if not using horses, would the last 8 days of the hunt have some of those elk moving down any?
Thanks DD, Wondering if the winter kill had an effect on the herd. I reached out to a local outfitter awaiting a response. I live in Idaho, and this was the first time I put in for Wyoming. Go figure, I have'nt drawn in Idaho in 40 years!
Here is my take. First off You the outfitter should and I guarantee you did know exactly where you were when you took that Bull. You committed a crime period!! Just because you cannot pay the penalty and they let you off with a $25 fine and 24month probation, only creates a PUBLIC view of why...
Nice Bull. I would guess about a 318" range. For a high bonus point draw in Az, or Utah, I would pass, yet if had the opportunity at the end of the same hunt, I would. For a General season or Low bonus point draw, He is on the Ground.
Now that my CC was hit for the $650, I can hardly wait to see which Unit I drew... 10 or 7W early Archery. How long does it normally take for the final word??
My daughter and I were there 3years ago. We scouted about 3 or 4 days prior to opening, then on the day before 20 people with the same tag or elk tag showed up. You will see plenty of small 3 and 4 points (23"). I will tell you, if you have a white half ton truck (gas), just like all of the gas...

Great Job !! I as well hunt with my daughter, and it is truly a blessing to watch her excitement and shacking after her take. Though I know some day she will have more important things on her plate and not be able to join me, so cherish this as long as you can...

If your going to make a comment like this, at least back it up with a picture and proof, not gossip!
Thanks for all the great words ! Not sure how long she will want to go with me, but will always try to keep the youth involved in such a great way!!

RE: It would appear that Squirrel is not full of bull excrement... well well well whodathunkit
I agree with Orion! How many times have they done this before? The fine for one thing should be at least 5k, and the hunting prives should be min. 5yrs. With the fines and time so low there are, Im...
What a great story ! Sounds like you should be a writer for a hunting magazine! You tell the story so well, it makes the reader feel like he was there. Well done!
