My experience with the 156 in PRC has mixed results. That bullet is absolutely devastating on deer size game. It is 100% not a bullet I will use again on elk size animals.

What about all those guys renting pack animals throughout the west? My bet is that every pack animal has a chip, then you go share your hunting success with the handler when returning the animals and bingo.

Those bulls will be pretty visible that time of year. Grouped up in bachelor groups and feeding on open ridges for more hours than normal.

Rent llamas from Wilderness Ridge. I own a string of 6 and they are so easy to take in the backcountry.

Thanks for the info guys. My first lesson has been arrow selection and how finicky it can be. I have put er down until my 500’s show up, it’s just a frustration fighting the wrong arrows.

Robby Denning has a podcast about this subject. He ages all the bucks he kills and has some pretty good data about big bucks coming out of or surviving as a fawn in those super tough winters.
