Poaching crimes still on the rise in Utah
UDWR tallies 1,283 illegally killed animals in 2022
www.gohunt.com
That number will go down since trail cams were outlawed after July.
Just give it time.
So?
They'll Obey The Trail Cam Laws?
Don't have to. With all the crusaders out there, the cams will be destroyed or reported.
Problem solved.
How You Deciphering Whether it's Legal Or Not?
If I Don't Have A Tag & I wanna get a Picture Of a Tweety Bird I'll Damn Well Legally Set Some Trail Cams Out!

I am. Now to move on to get more predators removed. More bear and cougars killed.I'm not a crusader
From what I see Wyoming has the majority.I feel like 75% of all the big poaching cases are in Utah. What the hell is going on in that state?
Most big game poaching cases are from finding carcasses with no meat removed. Sometimes the head is, but I doubt they're eating that. Trophy animals are usually the big reason for poaching, but I think some people like the thrill of the kill, teenagers behaving badly etc.How many of those animals were poached because people were just trying to put food on the table. I’ve always wondered how many people did it for meat vs trophy animals. I’d be willing to bet with inflation people poaching for meat went up some.
I’ll bet some people got popped had poached an animal and took meat. But yes the mass majority are just shooting something because it’s big. Either way it still sucks and is a lost opportunity for law abiding hunters. Most big game poaching cases are from finding carcasses with no meat removed. If folks are after meat because they are poor and hungry why in the world would you kill wild game when there are thousands upon thousands of fat beef on easily accessible public lands. I'm NOT advocating for it at all--Hate thieves--it just seems easier for a hungry thief to shoot a steer next to the truck/trailer, throw it in and away ya go.
honestly, a win-win-win for everyone would be for these poor folks to dine on wild horse meat
True, but I like the “feed the hungry people with feral horses” theory.Probably because livestock crimes carry a heavier penalty than wild game does from a subsistence standpoint.
That is so messed up!
So let me asked this are these animals being whacked because
of their trophy quality or people whacking cows, doe’s to feed their family?
The latter I don’t have a problem with now the either throw them in jail!
