So I know I'm going to catch a whole bunch of crap from everyone about this but I thought I would share it anyway. In 2012 I was able to draw a limited entry archery elk tag through the utah state draw, I was able to harvest a nice 368 inch bull. In 2014 I went to the western hunting and conservation expo in Salt Lake City. I put in for a handful of tags every year and to my surprise I drew out for the exact limited entry archery elk tag I had in 2012. I've known this area very well and have had really good hunting partners to help. We hung cameras and did a ton of scouting both years. We hunted hard and didn't see very many good bulls but one night we spotted a bull and decided I would try to get a shot at him in the morning. I went into that canyon and he happened to be right where he was the previous night. I dropped down the ridge where I figured the elk were headed and he walked out at 57 yards. After I shot he went right down within 50 yards. We hunt on our own, no guides, and this is why we do it! The top picture is the bull I got in 2012, the bottom one is the bull I got this year. We measured him at 349 inches. I have some great family and friends to thank for my success!
