2010 dodge cummings

Cost more than they are worth!(Like all Trucks!)

Mileage is down from what they once were but BY GAWD we are saving energy in this Country!

It has an Obama Pipe on it(If somebody ain't already removed it?)

In the Stock Mode you can't make anybody Inhale!

Good News is,it can be removed for a Nominal Fee!

Depending on where you live I guess?

Oh,did I mention Fuel is 4.29 & headed up?

Cummings? LMAO, note to self do not post after 10 beers! But seriously about what are they getting for fuel mileage?

Never tested a 2010!

Guys that I've talked to say the Mileage SUCKS!

You gotta remember though, most Cummins Owners owned 01-02 & 03's & early 04's,Un-Real what kinda Mileage they'd pull!

But Obama/Government steps in & claims we need to Conserve Energy,I call BULLLSSHITT!

You live somewhewre where you can YANK the Obama Pipe & put a Programmer on it hangfire?

It'll cost you some money but You'll get it back!

In my eyes the Newer Diesels ain't as Good Nor Reliable, some of them are THIRSTY SOB's!

I do live where I could pull the Obama pipe. Is it better to straight pipe or install a after market muffler?

DEPENDS ON IF YOU WANNA SOUND LIKE A BIG TRUCK & HOW SENSITIVE THE COPS ARE IN YOUR AREA?

I've actually found some great buys at local Muffler Shops where the local PUNKS have bought an Exhaust System for their Dura-Max's & they had the Muffler Shop Straight Pipe it,the Muffler Shops usually keep the Mufflers & sale them reasonably,My last work Truck(Dodge) was sportin an after market Muffler from a Dura-Max Exhaust System,it's Straight Through design did help the Cummins a little, was a little noisier than Stock but not bad!

Don't confuse the Muffler with the Obama Pipe,AKA Particulate/Re-Burner,I've seen many of these Plug up,and if you do decide to put a Chip/Programmer on it you will have to remove the Obama Pipe!

Question is:

You want it to Breathe/Run?

Or not?

You wanna be able to make somebody Inhale at your choice?

Or do you wanna run around in a SMOGGER BELCHER only using a Fraction of what is really there?

Anyway,if you do one thing you'll need to do both,Quit feeding the Exhaust System Raw Fuel for GAWDS Sake, you think that improves Mileage?

Ok so here is what I have picked up so far, it doesn't matter straight pipe or muffle but cutting out the Obama pipe(particulate /re burner) is key. Also if a exhaust is done one should look into a tuner or chip. But what about intake if it's going to let it out better, shouldn't it take it in better? Also on average about how much will all this help?

The Exhaust System has a Re-Burner on it!

Works Similar to a Catalytic Converter, kinda!

But it only goes in to Re-Burn when the Computer tells it to!

When it goes in to Re-Burn if feeds raw Diesel/Oxygen in to it & it supposibly Burns/Cleans itself out till next time!

When you remove it,you'll need a programmer that deletes it!

I've got a Freind that ain't real Happy with the Re-Burner,He was backing in to his Hay Stack to load some Hay,the Re-Burner fired up,started a Fire & Burnt the whole Hay Stack down!

Hell Ya A Programmer is gonna make a Difference!

Alot more Power!

And when Drove decent better Fuel Mileage too!(Not alot, but a little,at 4.29 a Gallon what ya think?)

I'd tear that Obama Pipe Off in 1.2!

I thought about puttiing all that stuff on but now we have to get the deisels smog checked, just a hassel to take the stuff off and back on again.

I can understand that!

But there's way more Power & Mileage waitin!

The Low end Torque of the Cummins & the Mileage it can Pull is amazing when properly Tuned!

Bess thanks for the vids, cleared up alot of questions, if I pull the trigger on one will for sure check out the options.

Where you located?

You can watch these clips for hours!

My suggestion is to NOT OVER CHIP!

Keep Her Cool!

When Pulling Heavy loads watch your Pyro!

Biggest problem with Most Diesels are the PUNK-ASS kids on Main Street, they got Mega Power but can only use it for half a minute before things start melting down!

I like running an extra 100 Horsepower/200 ft lbs of Torque, the Mileage increases slighty & it's still useable power!

If you've never pulled heavy loads with an Engine that is producing 800+ ft lbs of Torque You'll be in for a Treat!

I'm down in Juab county, so emissions should not be an issue, been around diesels my whole life but never owned one or looked at what a guy could do to one, pretty impressive tho, found a 2011 going to go give her a look in the morn.

I been running a 09' Mega cab 6.7 that I bought last year with 6k miles on it. Mileage was around 14mpg with 37" tires on it so after a straight 5.9 exhaust swap and a tuner I am seeing 18mpg in the city and 21mpg on the highway running about 80mph. You won't be sorry and my lord does it have some power! Pulls trailers like they are not even there. 54,000 miles later, still pulling strong.

You hear that CUPSY?

21 MPG @ 80 MPH!

Hey CB08 exactly what are you running, pulled the trigger today on a 2011 6.7. Amazing power, but would like to maximize power and fuel mileage.

Hangfire,
Pretty much what has already been described here already.
Dropped the stock exhaust, cats, and DPF filter, replaced with older Dodge 5.9 aftermarket 5" exhaust and muffler.(Gotta be able to sneak up on stuff)
Installed H&S Black Maxx controller with DPF delete and K&N cold air intake. Blocked off the unused openings and wiring connectors as needed, most of which are provided with the kit. Parts ran about 2k, install was a full weekend.
If you don't want to replace your transmission, use the new power sparingly. Lets say you want to unstick a triple axle trailer that is in soft mud up to the wheel wells, or maybe a tractor trailer that pulled off the road at the wrong place? Keep your eye on the tranmission temp sensor! That motor won't stop pulling unless you get off the pedal or something breaks. Enough said.
Good luck,
CB08

Sounds like the old "Balls bigger than Brains syndrome" WTF do you want a jacked up stinking fuel sucking smoke belching rough riding pos for? So you can pull your wheeler trailer faster than the law allows? Just ask STTM to be honest... all he ever got outta a belcher was a speeding ticket & roaring laughter from the better looking gals in the basin.

Slick

maybe cause a diesel can get better fuel mileage empty and towing. diesel does not burn a hole in the ozone like gas does. diesel settles on the ground.

You Guys gotta realize slick is still tryin to Impress the Ladies!

With his shiny little 1/2 ton Gaser that you can't even feel a Bump in when you hit one!:D

We do K&N filters, straight pipe, chip and put in a good gear vendors() in and the mileage will hop up alot.
We are starting to do alot of them.

I have a 2008 cummins, same 6.7 liter as the 2010. Mine got 11 mph before removing all the ##### (dpf filter and everything else on the exhaust). I straight piped mine and put the edge juice on it with a stage 3 afe intake and I now get 23 mpg. The key with them is you have to put a programmer or chip on them if you straight pipe them, also you have to get straight pipe with bungs in your exhaust which are like fooler sensors you unplug three sensors from your stock exhaust and you have to put dummy sensors in to make you truck think the stock exhaust and dpf system is still present. Hope this all makes sense.

Yep thats what I thought showthemtome, it was $2200 up front but I'm sure its already paid for itself. I also did the egr delete which cooled the temps a little. I should mention to get that 23 mpg its on the freeway at 75 mph driving it like a grandpa haha

Just thought I would give you guys a update. Bought a 2011 cummins and stock it got about 18 mpg hiway, pulled the dpf off and the cats, only left the stock muffler, also put a egr delete kit, and a h&s mini max tuner, now pullin 23 mpg hiway, with more power than I know what to do with, thanks for the advice!

WOW!

Another CUMMINS pullin 23 MPG!

You made anybody Inhale yet?:D

Easy wood, cummins aint ready to downgrade:D As a earlier poster said, it take driving like a grandpa to get that kind of mileage. For me to get that 70 mph straight highway. Overall everyday driving at last tank right at 19 mpg. Still cant complain.
