2014 Bison Age Stats

The WY Game and Fish just released tooth aging from the 2014 Bison hunt.

The average age of bulls was 4.7 years old. The median age was 4.5. (I didn't analyze the cow data)

Breaking down the age further, there were
2, 9.5 year old bulls
6, 8.5
5, 7.5
13, 6.5
27, 5.5
22, 4.5
9, 3.5
7, 2.5
5, .5

In terms of the monthly harvest count,
10 were killed in Jan
43, Dec
27, Nov
11, Oct
6, Sept
5, Aug

The bull I killed was in Dec and aged at 5.5 years old. I got it officially scored at 119" Gross and 118" B&C Net. On a side note, I haven't killed a 30" mule deer buck, but this buffalo did reach that mark.

Great Bull,and thanks for the picture. I shot mine on January 3rd. and it was 8.5 years old. I need to get it scored,and i had a European mount done too.They are a really cool animal,and it wasn't so much the killing as the whole experience, being in Jackson in the winter,and seeing Elk, Sheep,Goats, Antelope,and herds of Bison! Hope my son in law draws this year,and my friends in Wyoming, looking forward to another great year in whatever tags we get.And the meat, is the best..

Wow that is a BIG bison! My cow is 1/2 that size! She was 5.5, there were bigger ones but they were on a hill 2 steps from out of sight and 150 yards from teton park so I picked the smaller cow I could shoot at again if needed.
