?Sportman?s Summit? Coyote Hunt planned for Adin California

01/28/15 -- Adin, a small, normally quiet town in Northern California near the corners of Siskiyou, Modoc, Shasta and Lassen Counties, will be the gathering point this year for the first-ever Sportsman?s Summit and Coyote Management Hunt on February 6th, 7th and 8th.

This event, which is co-sponsored by the Pit River Rod and Gun Club and Adin Supply, is expected to attract shooters and hunters of all ages from California and Oregon. Cost is $25 per person, which includes dinner and T-shirt, and the proceeds are used to help with the club?s junior programs and scholarships as well as partnerships in wildlife conservation efforts.

There will be adult and junior trap shoots, a junior archery clinic and Coyote Management Hunt but the highlight of the event will be the huge banquet planned by the club for Saturday night Feb. 7th. Those who want to attend the banquet or to participate in the hunt should sign up between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m. Friday February 6th at the Adin Community Hall.

The Adult Trap Shoot will be held on Saturday Feb. 7thh at noon. The Junior Archery Clinic and Junior Trap Shoot will be held Sunday at noon.

Two-person teams of coyote hunters will fan out from Adin in an attempt to keep the ever-growing population of coyotes in check. Coyotes prey upon wild game, especially upland game such as rabbits, grouse, quail, turkey and dove but also big game such as deer fawns and rancher?s livestock. Ranchers welcome the hunters. Many allow access to their lands with written permission and there is also much public land available.

NO PRIZES AWARDED AS PER RECENT CALIFORNIA LEGISLATION!
