2019 Antelope Hunt Success

DUKFVR, his son, myself along with 3 other friends made an antelope hunt with SW New Mexico Trophy Hunts and Properties. We had 4 newbie antelope hunters in the bunch. The newbies all tagged out the first day. DUKFVR and I tagged out the second day by choice. We had a great time seen quite a few lopes. The weather was extremely hot but the company was great. Not sure why the state moved the season up from October, but I have to say that was s terrible idea. The hides are in poor condition, it's extremely hot and the better bucks are being shot before they have a chance to breed. Special thanks to Tye Lightfoot for coming through once again for us on another successful hunt and great time.

As far as I can remember the antelope hunts have always started mid August.

The bowhunts always have, but the rifle hunts used to be later in September. I agree with letting the dominant bucks breed. Politics before biology in many cases.
