.280 AI loads

I'm taking a long action Remington action to Hill Country Rifles next month and instructing them to barrel it to said caliber.

I'm going with a light counter barrel.

It's for packing.

Any trusted loads would be appreciated.
I have several that I'm looking at.

Mine shoots the 150 Ballistic Tip (hunting bullet) extremely well. It's propelled by IMR 7977 and a Fed 215 Magnum match primer inside Nosler brass.

Mine did NOT shoot the LR accubond 150's well at all but other rifles and calibers do.

If it were mine, my first attempt would be with RL26 and a 168 Berger. R26 seems custom made for the 280AI.

I use Reloder 26 in my 6.5x280 AI and want to try some in the 280 AI also. Tony might be on to something here.

IMR-7977 nearly FILLS the case and is a compressed load....but oh boy does it shoot accurately!

I like both the above powders because of their temp insensitive properties.

I've shot both the Berger 168 hunting vld's and the 180 hybrids out of mine with H1000. Shoots both of them very well.

Mine loves H4831sc, 175gr ELD-X?s and Winchester LR primers....

As you can see from the wide range of responses, I think you have a lot of options with the 280ai... Great cartridge...

4831sc with 165 grain gamechanger bullet. Shoots wonders. 2950 fps, 5 shot group at 100 all touching.
