Which heavy bullets? A 10 twist will stabilize a 230 just fine. The 1:8 twist is great for heavy bullets also I have that on a difference 300 prc.
My point is that 98% of 30 cal bullets don't require an 8 twist, it's marketing hype and often counterproductive.Yeah anything from 1:8 to 1:10 will work for most of the heavy for caliber options available. He specifically was asking about 1:8 though.
The bullet doesn't care how long the barrel is, once again it's marketing hype. But the again starting to see some silly short barrels on rifles. Maybe that makes up for it?
PRC and similar capacity cartridges have no business with 250's, to slow to gain any advantage.I think some of the rifles chambered in 300 prc go that fast of a twist rate because of the options available now for 250+ grain bullets. I’ve shot 215’s and 225’s out of my 1:10 ultra mag without any issues but I’m not sure how it’d handle bullets heavier than that. From what I’ve seen 1:9 is probably the most popular option for a prc.
At that point just buy a 338I think some of the rifles chambered in 300 prc go that fast of a twist rate because of the options available now for 250+ grain bullets. Matter of opinion speed isn't everythingPRC and similar capacity cartridges have no business with 250's, to slow to gain any advantage.
Math isn't an opinion.Matter of opinion speed isn't everything
I think kinda. The more rifling it’s contacts the more it stabilizes correct? So an 18” barrel with a 12 twist would be less rifling affecting a bullet then an 18” barrel with a 7 twist yes?The bullet doesn't care how long the barrel is, once again it's marketing hype.
Speed isnt everything ill take accuracy over speed anydayMath isn't an opinion.
Yup he sure willWith PRC in the title of this thread I’m sure the OP is going to get way more replies and opinions than he ever imagined in this thread.
Accuracy is useless if the projectile is to slow to be effective. What 250 grain bullets are you using in your PRC?Speed isnt everything ill take accuracy over speed anyday
So you've got 40+ years of 800 yard one shot kills with 250 grain bullets in a 300 PRC? I would block me too if I were you.One thats effective & accurate enough to kill anything i shoot out to 800 yrds
Ive never needed a second shot, its always been 1.& done even if they run i never shoot twice
And i always find /recover the game ive shot havn't lost an animal yet
And ive been killing big game for 40+ yrs
You have, a, good day because im gonna, block you after this
