LAST EDITED ON Oct-31-12 AT 12:58PM (MST)[p]Months of scouting paid off on this year's general season. I started us off with a good buck on the opening day of the muzzle loader season. Opening day of the rifle hunt my dad was able to put down a nice buck, only fifty yards from where he killed his buck two years ago (apparently we are slow learners because it is a miserable spot to get them out of). Day two my nephew made a perfect shot and put down his first deer ever, lots of hi fives and smiles tell me this kid is hooked! Later that evening, after a little bit of PERSUASION on where to sit, my good friend Sam let the air out of his buck (not a bad birthday present for him). As we walked up on his buck he said "thank you, thank you, thank you for telling me to 'shut up and do what you're told'" HA HA . Day four found us trying to close the distance on another good 4X4 but time was not on our side and the darkness prevailed. Day six started off real slow not seeing much of anything until the evening when the the big 3 stepped into view, after some discussion on the radios my bro decided to pass on him. As he faded away into the trees i shook my head and hoped he would not regret that decision. The evening of day seven found us back in the same spot as the night before. The big 3 cleared the trees (this time at two hundred yards) my brother got a better look at him, called me on the radio, and said "get the spotter on him, I'm going to take him!" A well placed shot put an end to a season that will be tough to beat!!
