adapter for camcorder / scope

I recently purchased the Canon Vixia HFM40. Took some video with it in Colorado last weekend, but a lot of it was shaky. One time i did set up two tripods and this helped, but was a pain to lug both around. My scope is the swarovski and notice the make three different adapters, but hell they are proud of them. $250 for the cheep one, all it is is plastic. So I am looking for alternative ideas or brands that others here have had success with. Thanks

check out tines up. machined aluminum and i think they're $70 for just the adapter.
