The river runs right down the middle of this map and through the largest non-polar ice field in the world.
we tried to scout a route through the ice at lake Lowel but as you can see there was a bear sunning himself on the lookout rock so we had to wing it a bit
we camped on an island in the lake and this was probably the best groover (toilet system) location I've seen yet - on a bluff watching the glacier calve into the lake
