Another PP question

So, my son in college will more than likely draw this year, but wont know if he can take the time off school until he gets his fall class schedule later this year. If he has to turn back in his tag, I know he can have pref. pts. restored if he forfeits tag money.
My question is, will he then get a PP for this year or not??

I am pretty sure that as long as you don't take a refund of your tag fee, you get your point for the year. It is outlined on page 7 of the big game brochure, but it isn't totally clear to me. You may want to double check with a call to the cdw.
I had a friend last year who had a premium late season tag. He made a trip out to check on whether or not the deer were migrating into the hunt area, and he was planning on turning the tag in, if he didn't find any good deer. He actually ended up keeping the tag and killing a dandy buck, but I know he talked to officials and he was planning on getting his preference point and giving up the money.
That is my understanding.

You are not awarded a preference point for this year if you turn in a tag. You can have your old points restored if you don't request a refund of the tag cost.
