Antelope Island Sheep

Going for a horse back ride on the island. Was wanting to see some of the sheep. Just wondering if anyone has some pointers as to where on the island they might roam. Taking my 7 year old son so he wont be up for a full day ride.

Thinking of starting at the garr ranch and heading south around the tip to see if they are down on that end.

Any help is much appreciated!

You may see bands of rams anywhere, but most likely on the west side, in the red mountain area.
The area on the west, below frary peak will hold lots of ewes, lambs, and young rams at this time of year.
This is a short video that shows the typical type sheep you will see from the peak for the next little while.
Lots of sheep. Maybe not the sheep you are looking for though.

If you find rams, and they can be anywhere, they will probably be in groups of rams and that will be fun for you.

Red mountain is a good area to look. Where the trail from the ranch crests the range, there is a hill to the north. In the summer there can be a couple rams that typically like to hang out on that hill. Its worth a look with the binoculars.

The three canyons to the north of red mountain will all have sheep in them.

Good luck. Take a spotting scope and get off that horse every now and then and do some glassing. They can be tough to spot.

You might see some going around the south end, but you have a better chance in the middle of the range.

I will add that you can't take horses on the Frary peak trail. Did you draw the tag Tallbuck1?
