LAST EDITED ON Aug-17-10 AT 08:13PM (MST)[p]Was reading some old posts about preserving velvet and saw a few things about formeldahyde but ordered some of this stuff instead. On the bottle it says to inject it, can you get the same result w/ draining the blood and just rubbing it in w/ gloves? Wondering if I really need to pack a needle. Also wondering what the time-frame is to get velvet antlers to the taxidermist- someone on another post had mentioned about 24 hours if they're not going to be preserved.

Thanks.

There just as fragile as the hide..............if not more. Treat them like you'd treat the meat and hide and get them to a taxidermist quickly and you'll be fine.

As far as rubbing the tan on............no dice. You need to chase all the blood out and that can only be done through injection.

My advice is..... make it a priority to get them to a taxidermist in a timely fashon and you'll have no worries.
