Anybody have any luck today? I went out this evening and didn't realize I hadn't changed out my fieldtips for broadheads!! What an idiot!!! I just glassed a bit....saw some does and a little button buck. That makes for a good night! Anybody connect?

Steve

Wiz, i had some luck today. Not the kind that you're thinking but i'll take it. i had a pretty good week in my small plumbing business so took the day easy around the house, doing laundry, paying some bills, things like that. After an nice afternoon nap, i decided to take a drive over to Susanville and Gamble at the Indian casino. I just took a money clip with $200 and my ID, insurence that i'd not be tempted to chase my planned losses. i don't go often but when i do, i like to play a vidio slot machine called 50 Lions, object being to get a bunch of lions or diamonds, wild, and the more you get, the better you do. I was playing this penny machine for about an hour at between $.50 & $1.25 a spin.

Low and behold, the next spin of the wheels gave me all lions! "YEEESSS!" i shouted out loud. There was a lion in every square, 5 squares down and 5 rows across, on the screen except for the top square in the very last row. I sat there and watched 24 outa 25 lions roaring at me! Some nice music came on and i watched as the lions looked like they were running at me while the payout total for that spin rolled up and finally stopped at $1010.

I wasn't ready to call it a day so i played for another hour or so. After topping off both gas tanks, a trip to Safeway for $165. worth of grub $ Walmart for a cart full of new matress pad, pillows, and sheet sets, plus a bunch of misc stuff, followed by a nice dinner down the road, i came home with all my loot plus $750. Not a huge win by any means but a nice one for me, especially when i fully expected to lose my $200. Yeah! i had some luck today.

Who's gonna be first to post a picture of a '08 taken buck? My Money is on Hunter Harry's son! Good luck Guy's!

Joey

Missed this buck this morning.
50 yards broadside.
Thwackkkk!
My arrow was deflected by the only branch in the area.

Oh well, I've got till late September, it'll happen.

Joey- Sounds like I'd take your luck anyday! That has got to be the best feeling to come away a winner. I know the feeling when you have the outlook that your gonna lose what you bring. I'm happy for you. It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Congratulations.....and don't spend it all in one place!

HH- That's a respectable buck. Sorry that you missed. Maybe tonight? I'm not gonna be able to get out tonight due to a family BBQ. Good luck!

Steve

Thanks for the kind words Wiz, Like i said in another thread, you're due! Actually kinda regret that i gave HH's son the nod for first buck. Kinda like to see you squatting behind a big ol Ca. Coastal Blackie!

Careful out there bud. Poison Oak is no fun but them rattlesnakes will flat put a bad hurt on a guy!

Being i'm speaking of Poison oak; My Unckle, who was only two years older than me, used to get it VERY bad. There was quite a bit on our place and like nickman, about all he had to do was look at it. He ended up in the Hospital once for a particulary bad dose he got recovering a buck with me. His privates swelled up, i mean really swelled up so big, like grapefruits, he couldn't put his pants on.lol His wife made jokes about it for years, she even took pictures as keepsakes for her old age!... For some of you guys, No! i don't have a copy.lol

Joey

Ouch!!! I've never had it that bad, Joey. Kinda makes me wonder how he got it so bad down there. Do you guys recover your animals naked!!?? Just kidding. I know some get it a lot worse than others. Your uncle must be one of them that get it bad. Poor guy.

Heck, I'd like to be the first one to post a picture of a downed deer also but that's not gonna happen. I can't go out tonight and I'll bet someone will be posting something tonight. We'll have to wait and see. Take care.

Steve

HH 50 yards is pretty good because that chit looks Dry...
better luck next time (I tried to shoot my bow a few times ..forget it til I have my shoulders rebuilt next feb-! rotator cuff, and impingement).. how Boy Wonder doing?
I had my son out shooting the .257 weatherby mag today for his Lassen Apprentice Antelope next month hes does fine (his groups were great!). Just wish he liked the 7mm mag but he hates "thump-er"(hes almost 5'10" tall 180 lbs and dorky still...lol).

Just returned from tonight's hunt.
My son had two young forkies at 30 yds.
Passed.
He's so spoiled, they woulda looked like George Custer when I was 15.
Nada for pops.

I'll be out in am.
HH

HH- Sounds like you guys are seeing plenty of deer. No need to shoot the younger deer so early in the season. I'm sure something a little more mature will show. Good luck.

Steve

Congrats on your son being smart and passing on those little guys. With any luck, that'll pay off for him later in the season! Good Luck!

Went out last night and saw quit a few bucks. One nice forkie about 18" wide. I save my tags for B zone, but I did dog for my buddy kevin who I got into archery last year. He was able to connect on a forkie at 40 yards and finally get some blood on an arrow, he was pumped. Ended up dead in the middle of the creek so we had to do a little swimming but managed to get it before it sank. Will post some pics when I get a chance.
