I was driving down hwy 17 towards Alamosa Sunday afternoon and saw a huge bull in the back of a red Chevy truck.
Had extras and great mass, good width, a truly big elk. Looked like the fourths split on both sides and big around as a baseball bat, and it almost looked like a split main beam on right side.
I am not good at judging big elk, but I would guess 380" plus, maybe more than 400". The truck had New Mexico plates....but the elk could have come from anywhere???
I could not get close enough to see if it was just a head strapped in or if it was a finished mount, but it looked like it had velvet hanging off it.
Now another question, would you post a pic on a public forum if you did not have a chance to talk to the truck owner for permission to post the pic?
After an unsuccesful weekend hunt it was like salt in the wound to watch that truck in front of me for 45 minutes.....
