Archery bear hunting in zone X9a

Didn't draw an A16 tag but wanted to hunt bear in the area on opening of archery. Does Anyone Have any tips on where to start? Have been to the Mammoth Lakes area before. Always liked the area east of the 395, any tips would be appreciated. You can PM me if you like, thanks.
