Area Choice Help Deer/Elk

My son has most recently moved out to Denver from Michigan on the west side. We have one preference point, looking for perspective on deer and or elk within 3 hours or so of Denver in any direction. We were planning on the SW corner two years ago, opted for trips to Wyoming while we build points. Low and behold my son got a wild hair and moved out to the area two weeks ago. Neither of us have hunted Elk, plenty of 160's mule deer under our belt.
