avg age harvest

Does anyone know where to find the avg age of harvested animals on LE units in 2010? I looked all over the dwr website but could not find it. Thanks

I am pretty sure they don't have that information ready yet. I am still waiting to hear back on the age of the archery bull I killed last year.

I figured that was the case, but I cannot find it for 2009 either. Don't know if I am looking in the wrong place or what. Just thinking if there was a sharp decline in age harvested then I could possibly for see a decrease in hunting permits on a certain unit.

2009 should be on the DWR Web site, I have seen it before, but can't remember where.

IMHO, the problem with the age harvest data, is that some people take really old bulls past their prime off units and it skews the data. I know of one bull that ended up being 13 years old taken on the Book Cliffs muzzy in 2009. I took a really old bull last year off the book cliffs archery, probably about the same age range. Both were good bulls, 330 range, but well past their primes in size. Those bulls make up for some of the younger bulls killed and may skew the data

I just checked on this, and the hunters who participated in these late-season hunts have 30 days to submit their reports. That means the data will probably be available the first week of March. If we see that they've all completed their reports early, we'll try to get it posted sooner, but there are no guarantees.Amy Canning

I was just looking at this same info earlier today. i found the 2009 ages included in the harvest stats. The 2010 harvest stats didn't include ages.
