AZ Unit 19B Muley

I drew an antlered mule deer tag for AZ Hunt Unit 19B. (Oct. 25-Nov. 3) I'm interested in: 1. Since hunting alone, someone to camp with. I don't drink heavily, insist on a clean camp, helluva cook, have hunted Arizona for 45 years and "say NO to drugs." and 2. any unit 19B tips to get me off on the right foot. I plan to do a good deal of pre-season scouting, I'm a little concerned about the abundance of private property and not opposed to discovering special access opportunities where available. New to this site so not sure how to hook up. Need suggestions there as well. Thanks..

The western side of unit does not seem to have the private land issues once you get north of the las vegas ranch. I always see a few camps about 3/4 of mile north of walnut creek on the williamson valley rd. If it were me, I would just find a high spot and glass.

I have varmint called quite a bit in there but never really saw many deer. Good Luck

Try posting on coueswhitetail.com, you might have a little better luck since an Arizona website.
I don't know much about unit 19b so can't be of any help there.

I picked up some sheds there while scouting for an antelope hunt that go about 190?. Buck was killed a year later and went something like 208?.

That was up North near the Yavapai ranch.

Back in the 70's they transplanted some deer from Kaibab in 19b and I think 17a. Some good genetics are in there. The story went on to say that HUGE deer were spotted during arial surveys back in the 80's but they were in that flat juniper stuff where you pretty much had to walk right up on them. I think the article was from about 1983 or 84 in the arizona hunter angler magazine (If I remember correctly). The author's name escapes me but he still posts stuff on coueswhitetail.com. I only remember this because we hunted 17a all the time back then and we would talk about it every year around the camp fire.
