It was a long trip from Oregon that day, 63 degrees in Lakeview, then snowing in Nevada. We were headed full speed to a spotting point on a road I had not been to in 13 years and wanted to find it before dark so we could hunt it the next morning. I just threw my hunting coat on and bino's and away we went. I thought I found the road and spotted 3 does on a hillside, but I was so focused on finding my spot I continued on. When we got to the elevation of the does I put the glass on them again and saw what looked like a good buck. I jumped out and thought wow that's a good buck. The Chinese Fire drill began as my rifle was still packed away with my ammo. I shot the deer after 3 hours in the unit, and headed back to Oregon. The hunting Gods were with me this day.
