Typical Utard rifle hunter right there. Fling lead, wound animals, look for 5 minutes before shooting another animal.
That bull was dead on his feet the first shot!!!

Friend of mine was using them last deer season in a 300WSM. Not sure which ones, but they are designed to come apart inside the animal. Good reports that they did a ton of damage inside of animals. He hit a whitetail twice, thought it was a goner as it ran into a large willow/ cottonwood patch. Looked for hours and not even any blood. We didn't like them as they didn't leave an exit wound so no blood. I guess they might be alright if you can see the animal go down but if you need a blood trail to track, your out of luck.

Aim for bone! High shoulder shot works the best. I hit an elk in the backbone and another in the neck. They were dead before they hit the ground.

ive killed two bulls with bergers that did the same thing. one took 2 rounds, the other took 4. neither one actually needed a second shot, but they were on their feet and bad experiences with bonded bullets have conditioned me to keep shooting. insides of both we an absolute mess. there is only one reason a bull elk will stand still with gunshots going off around him, and its not because hes healthy and feeling fine, agree with the previous comment, that bull was dead on his feet after the first hit.

So?

The other Bull that Took 2 Rounds Died?

Without video evidence we don't know where or how many times the other bull was shot. The only thing the hunter said was "I hit him somewhere" well congrats, jackass, you hit him "somewhere"

It's really a shame that all these idiots are filming and putting this garbage out on youtube for the whole world to see! Yesterday there's the guy in the video laughing about a rockchuck dragging it's guts around after the shot and now this guy hits a bull twice "somewhere" and then 4 times on the one in the video. Sad, very very sad!

If this guy was shooting Bergers then any one who says they don't ever give passthroughs needs to watch this video.

I've had pass throughs but the exit is just usually the core as the jacket seep rates and devastates internal organs. My cow elk this yeAr was high shoulder one shot drop.

I'm a proponent of shooting the elk until it falls. No matter the bullet or gun or conditions... Elk are tough tough tough animals. Some big boys take a little extra medicine to go down.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-31-15 AT 09:13AM (MST)[p]He was shooting a 7 mm shooting Berger Hybrids 180 grain. Looks like they penciled right threw him. I was talking to the guide about this hunt. This weekend at the MDF dinner. Makes me a little nervous as I have loved how Barnes have done for me over the last twenty years. But I have now crossed over to the dark side and have been working up some loads with the 230 grain Berger Hybrids. But in 30 caliber coming out of a Tejas case.

Maybe they said it to many times in video, but what I gathered from watching it, is they shot one bull twice which left some blood and they lost it. They shot a 2nd bull right at dark and couldn't track it and didn't know if they hit it or not, but one guys said he hit it. Then they kill a different bull. So is that 2 wounded bulls and then finally killed one?

I went back over the video and you are correct! Two wounded bulls and the only mention of the second one was the guy in full camo saying the guy hit him and then it was right on to the third one he finally killed with the four shots. Is it legal to use a radio to bring a guy in on an animal like the guy also did and have the guy with the tag shoot it? I'm too lazy today to try and look it up in Utah Regs!

I've never in over 30 years of hunting ever put 4 rounds into an elk. Ever. In 12 years and 12 bulls using an Accubond, I've never shot one twice. mtmuley

i was shooting them out of my 270 win 150Gr and my boy shot a spike that was just like this one it just stood there... it took two hits and finally he laid down and died no blood what so ever it wasnt until i quartered him to find the inside tore up

Also another experience with my 300 ultra mag 210Gr my dad shot a big bull on his (once in a life time tag) evening time at 550 yds prone on the bi pod first shot was a solid hit right behind the shoulder dead center knocked him down hard and it got back up so he shot again same loud smack sound hit it a little forward in the shoulder it piled up and slid down the mt. we went over and never found anything but where the bull slid down the hill no blood and spent the rest of the hunt and still looking to hopefully find a dead head with no luck everyone has there opinion they shoot paper awesome but on game i will never shoot them again

This Wasn't a BERGER!

And I didn't need a 2nd Round!

For what it is worth... Two years ago I shot a bull 5X at less than 100 yards. First one put him down with lung shot, and I lost sight behind trees. He jumped up as I was walking up, and four more... I got him but he died hard. All should have been fatal. 185 Berger VLD hunting bullets at over 3100 fps out of a 300 mag.

Last year, I dropped a bull in his tracks stone dead with one shot in almost the same spot and angle on the chest at 430 yards. A .270 and 150 gr grand slam.... Not even a hot load.

How do you make sense of that?

This Reply is for REDDOG!

Them BERGERS Seem to be lacking a little KNOCK-DOWN Power!:D

Berger VLDs have worked great for me out of my Kimber Montana 7mm WSM, 168gr handloads. I've taken 8 animals with exactly 8 shots, never needed a follow up shot. Animals include 4 mule deer, 1 antelope, 1 elk, 1 whitetail, and 1 wild hog. From what I've found inside each animals is they are devastating bullets. To be honest though if I was using a different style bullet they all would have been dead too, its really shot placement that counts if you ask me.

DO NOT TELL THE WORLD ABOUT IT, AND DO NOT MAKE A VIDEO OF IT.

Exactly huntfishall! When a bullet glances off a rib and enters heart/lung/liver you find dead animals not far from where you shot them!

Ha ha Got to love it Bowhunt!! Today's kids with their cameras everywhere. I cant even find any pictures of my first hunts. We just didn't take pictures of everything like they do now. But I do remember when we got our first Polaroid . Now that was technology ! When the film was cold we put the picture under our arm pit to warm them up :)

The bull the hunter ends up killing at the end of the video is the bull I was after this year on the archery hunt. I never did see him during my hunt, but I passed on the bull in the video at 1:00 two different times at 18 yards hoping for the other bull. I have a ton of picts of the big 5pt at 0:31 also. The bull he took scored 348" with it missing a couple of inches and was likely right at 350" before the rut. I settled for a 325" bull so I could get out of there to help a buddy on another tag.

Ya, but.. but.... but Mike.., everybody wants to be an internet hero! To hell with the resource, ethics, skill, and restraint. No sense being sensitive or discrete. They want their turn in the limelight. Period!

Just goes to show you not every idiot with a gunwerks rifle can pull off a 600 yard shot , hunter has no clue !! Cody knows the hunter hit the bull you can see it on his face , but neither has a clue where he was hit ? Come on ,the optics , the manpower , and nobody has skills enough to follow a track out to make sure , come on webber this ain't your first rodeo !!

'IT AINT EASY BEING ME'

Blood=hit first you hit him ,then no hit , then Cody says he hit him , then we must not have hit him , good lord !
And you guys think these guys are just run of the mill hunters , when in fact this is team mossback !!! Look at the red hats in the pics ! Cody Webber team mossback. Decker Landis team mossback
And I wonder why I find so many dead heads on this unit !

The Davidson bros at gunwerks would really appreciate all the ads on this gunwerks nightmare !
