Best Powder?

What is your favorite powder to reload .45 ACP? Thought or recipes?

I have been using Unique, 5.7gr with berrys 230 gr bullets. Using Unique because it works with my other pistols. Works great, not too messy, but I am making bulk ammo for hitting bowling pins and clay pigeons, so I don't know about pinpoint accuracy.


When they came for the road hunters I was not one so I said nothing. When they came for the oppurtunists I was not one so I said nothing. When they came for the public land hunters I was not one so I said nothing. When they came for me there was no one left to say anything!

I use the 45 acp in IDPA matches and I like using W231 powder.

5.3gr.-231 230gr Xtreme plated RN=800fps

I have been using unique at 5.7 g . Its not super accurate with the powder dispensing using the unique with the shape of the powder??? Just wondering if there is finer powder that you guys have used and liked?

W231 meters very well. I am willing to bet if you hand measure 5 rounds of 5.7 gr. Unique. Then load 5 rounds of unique with your powder measure and shoot both groups, you will not see a difference in group size.
