Best Settings???

I was just wondering, in general, what resolution and compression settings people think are the best overall.

Is it best to use the highest settings available in case you get a great picture you want to print 8 X 10 and then if you want to email it or post it you can just make it smaller?

My camera has resolution settings of L (large: > 8 X 10), M1 (medium 1: = 8 X 10), M2 (medium 2: = 4 X 6) and S (small: email only). It also has compression settings of Normal, Fine and Superfine.

I have a 512 memory card so capacity is not an issue.

I am thinking of just leaving it on the default setting of Large - Fine which will allow storage of over 300 pictures but will have an average picture size of 1.4 megs.

Any of your thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to using my 12X optical zoom on some live game and posting pics to share with everyone in the fall when it cools down and I am out in the field (kind of hot right now in AZ - about 115 in Phoenix).
