I just bought a new CVA Accura and will be shooting BH209 , with barnes t-ez's, and cci 209m primers. I thought I remember reading somewhere that you should drill out the breech plug hole bigger with a #65 drill bit. Has anyone done this or heard of it?

i use the #65 drill bit on all of my plugs so its the recommended .035" flash hole that blackhorn recommends. Its basically a extra back up to ensure nothing hang fires or what not.

You do need a #32 drill bit to clean out the carbon in the flash channel. Keeping the flash channel is key to getting reliable flame into the powder.

I have an Accura that I bought this past spring. I am shooting BH209 with CCI209M primers. I have not done anything to the Breach plug and have put around 100 shots though it with no missfires. I have kept the Flash channel cleaned out as Frontier Gander mentioned with a #32 drill bit. I clean it out every 5-6 shots. Have yet to have a missfire (knock on wood).

I've not heard of this myself. I have the Triumph and shoot BH209 with the CCIs. So what your saying is to drill out the exiting primer hole to the #65 drill bit and use the #32 drill bit to keep clean? What real size is the #65 and the #32? Thanks!

No clue what the real size of the #65 is. It is .035" which is blackhorns recommended flash hole size.

CVA uses a #32 for the flash channel to be cleaned out. TC - Knight how ever use 1/8"

When you use a #32 drill bit on a CVA flash channel, this is the carbon you clean out!
