IM RANKED ON THE PRIORITY LIST #18 FOR NON-RESIDENT AND WAS PLANNING ON HUNTING BISON MID NOVEMBER. HAS ANYONE HUNTED IT THAT CAN HELP ME ON WHETHER TO GO GUIDED OR NON-GUIDED?

ID LIKE TO GO DIY AND UTILIZE THE "TAG'N DRAG" RETRIEVAL SERVICE, BUT I HAVENT TALKED TO ANYONE THAT HAS HAD AN OPINION ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.

THANKS FOR YOUR HELP
CHRIS

Getting a guide for a Wyo Buffalo hunt is a huge waste of money. The hunt consists of waiting for a bull to step onto the forest or for them to come down to the refuge, and then shooting one like a hereford.

The last two years, we've butchered the bulls on the spot and drug them to the rigs (one on the refuge, drug out on snow sleds, one on the forest, taken out on a couple of Rangers.) Left nothing but the guts. It isn't too tough with a crew, genny, sawsall, chainsaw, and plenty of knives, but it does take all day. Be sure to bring a small camp stove to brew coffee and a pint of Crown. If you don't have all the resources, the tag-n-drag is probably worth the money. The Crown in the coffee is always worth the money.

Mid November into December has proven a good time to go. Congrats on your tag.
