Does anyone know about how many acres of property one has to own, to be able to recieve landowner tags for either elk, or deer? Its decent property with water and habitat. I know i need to talk and apply with the DWR. But I was just curious if any has any experience with it?

Here is a link to the regulation that specifies what criteria the property has to meet to be eligible.

The tags are allocated to the Landowners Association based on what percent of the species specific habitat on the unit that belongs to the Association. For example, if a unit gives 100 deer tags, and 5% of the deer habitat on the unit is part of the landowner association, they would get 5 deer tags. If the unit gives 50 elk tags, and the association has 10% of the elk habitat on the unit, they would get 5 elk tags. The associations have bylaws and a distribution plan that dictates how they will allocate permits among members, or if they just sell them and then allocate the profits, etc.
