My buddy had two bonus points and drew a Wasatch Early Elk Tag. I know mine are in the teens. He scouted every weekend and wasn't seeing a lot of bulls. Last Friday we hunted all day, and I was able to call this one in. Is was about 5:30, we took a position in the aspens. I whistled, and right off the back we had two bulls answer. One was really close, but seemed to be down wind, so I was hoping for the other bull that seemed to be quite a ways away. I did a few little cow moos, and the closer bull whistled again, so I did some quite moos, and I watched him come in. He came in above us, I don't know how he didn't wind us, but when he moved in above us it was perfect. I gave me buddy, that had not seen the bull yet the ok sign, he thought I was saying 3 point. I pointed, and the bull was about 40 yards away. We were sitting down off of a little ridge, he was on the flat above us. I let out another quiet cow call, and the bull ripped into a screaming whistle! I told him that I would shoot the bull. He put his rifle up, I asked him if he wanted me to stop him, he said now, little call cow, and my buddy pounded him, he ran about 20 yards, and piled up. I love this bull, lots of character. This was my first time hunting this year, by now I usually have a dozen or more days in. But this hunt is in my top 10.
