I've shot round ball and patch for 9 years now. I'm thinking I would like to get a little more accurate. can anyone help make a good choice for a bullet shooting out of the ole traditional Lyman Great Plains .54 cal with a 1 in 60 twist?

-are sabots werth shooting with my gun?

I tried a lot of substitutes for the round ball in that exact setup and I never have had anything shoot close to as accurate as the round ball. Let me know if you find something!

I have never had a bullet work in my GPR; the twist is too slow. That is a roundball twist. The only other thing that has semi worked are ballets. Think round ball sized conical. If you like your GPR just get a new barrel for it. Lyman great plains hunter barrels are made for conicals; a lot faster twist to stablize long bullets.
