I was wondering if any of our M.M. members has heard anything about Cabela's putting a store in Chehalis? A friend of mine claimed to have seen paperwork at a certain state office for approval of a Cabela's store to be built right next to the new Home Depot and Walmart. I have also hear this rumor from several different contractors. Also, to add fuel to the fire, a mechanic friend of mine that works for the Chehalis Tribe said that the tribe donated the land to Cabela's to entice them into the area. Have any of you heard anything about this?

That would be awsome if they did come to Washington. I live in Olympia and I half to drive up to Fife ( sportco) or silverdale( sportsmans wearhouse) to find any kind of ok sporting good store. What I have heard is that Cabelas would blow them both out of the water.

Hope it's true.

Polar:

A friend of mine has a huge collection of muley heads. He said a guy he knows from the corp office at Cabelas called him and wanted to buy 4 large mounts. Since this guy has about 30 heads on the wall and several booners, he said fine. This was about 3 months ago. I love Cabelas! Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be sweet! I've always wondered when we would get one out here, right now they are building a sportsmans warehouse in Federal way so that will have to do until CAbelas comes. Right on.

First I've heard of it....would be awesome! Gotta agree with kingfish, bring it to Snohomish County. :) Beggers can't be choosers I guess. :)

I've spent a fair amount time out that way, but it's been awhile. They still have that awesome sea food buffet at the Muckleshoot Casino in Auburn? I dream about that place as much as I do hunting...

I haven't heard anything about it, but it would be great to have one in Chehalis, as I'm only 10 miles from there. Only bad thing is we would then have to pay sales tax, even on catalog orders. :( But I suppose it would be worth it. I've heard you can get great deals on merchandise that's been returned.

Falcon;
Three months ago, Jeff, from Cabela's was purchasing heads for the new stores in SLC, Utah, and the new store being built near Boomtown just outside of Reno, Nevada. Seven heads from my Father-in-law will be at the Nevada store. I have not heard of any store going into Washington, but that does not mean anything. They keep it quiet until all the loose ends are tied up and they can start the ground work.

I've heard that rumor every year for the last 5. It would be cool though. For now Sportsmans Warehouse will fill the void.

Yes the muck still has the buffet. The one at the Emarld Queen is better though. They have king crab there.

keep cabelas out of WA!

if they come into state us WA residents will have to pay sales tax and shipping on our orders!

If it does come to WA, I sure hope it doesn't go on
tribal land. They would get the sales tax not the state.

Sales tax or not, they would still have a better selection of gear than anyone in the state. I havent been to Sportsmans Whorehouse yet but I am tired of running up to Sportco just to find out that they are out of something, again.

For the guys too far away to drive to it, it wouldn't be good, as they would then have to pay sales tax in addition to shipping on catalog orders. Within driving distance, you would pay sales tax but save on shipping. I would love to have one in Chehalis, but only because I'd only be 10 minutes away.

Sales tax or no sales tax, Cabelas can't come soon enough. Lots of times, I wish I could try stuff on like boots, etc. Sorta hard to do when all you have is a cataloge.

LAST EDITED ON Nov-02-05 AT 04:41PM (MST)[p]I live in Oregon but would migrate to Washington every now and then to visit Cabela's...if it's true.

Come on, why does someone got to bring up the old racism against indians thing about having it built on tribal land or not and taxes? The post is supposed to be about Cabela's.

Who cares about the tax, being able to see and touch this stuff before you buy it would be great. If the tax is going to break you you probably can't afford it anyway. Imagine this, drop your wife off at the super walmart next door and you could avoid the agony of spending 2 hours marching up and down every worthless isle at wallyworld. She's happy because you aren't nagging her and your in heaven fondeling everything you wish you had the money to buy.

What else can you ask for? WallyWorld for the wife right next door to Home Depot and Cabela's. Talk about one stop shopping. Tools, hardware and outdoor gear all in one spot!

I ran into a contractor friend of mine that I hadnt seen in about 6 months. He confirmed that Cabela's is building a store just out of Grand Mound. He has been doing the concrete work for it. The location is just off of I-5 at the Lewis/Thurston County border. He said that they are planning to get it finished and opened by next summer and that they are putting their own on/off ramp from I-5.

THAT MUST BE JUST PAST THE 88 EXIT GOING SOUTH SEEN WHERE THEY WERE POURING MUD. MY WIFES MOM LIVES IN ROCHESTER AND BUYS TWICE AS MUCH FROM CABELAS AS I DO.GUESS I WILL HAVE TO START WORKING SUNDAY TO.

That is awesome news. Thanks Polarbear! It'll be only a 5 minute drive for me. I may need a second job also.

The walls are up on the Sportsman's Warehouse in Federal Way. Maybe they can have a Grand Opening on the same day!
