Recently had a well versed and experienced gun shop owner to inform me that the CCI ML 209 primer and the CCI 209 shotgun primer was the exact same thing. I emailed the CCI company yesterday and one of their representatives immediately answered my question. He said that IN ORDER OF HOTNESS: CCI Magnum then CCI shotgun and then the CCI ML primer. Again, this is in the order of HOTNESS. I recently used the CCI shotgun primer in my first practice black powder shooting session recently using BlackHorn powder at 100 grains by volume. TC Encore .50 with the sort of new Federal copper premium bullets. I believe that I will purchase a box of the CCI ML 209 primers and find out if the ML primer causes my old TC Encore to improve its accuracy or if the groups widen. Have any of you MM members performed this little experiment before? Any publishable results? I will report my findings soon. Cow Tag
