It sounds like you are a poor college student. A mtn bike may be just the ticket...and you can use it around town? We used a mtn bike last year on my son's bighorn sheep hunt. Hooked up a bike trailer to it and saved around 5 miles of hiking (each way). I got the idea from a few guys in Alaska that used mtn bikes plus a trailer to access remote areas that were off limits to motorized vehicles. A mtn bike is also likely a lot quieter than most motorized bikes, motorcycles, etc.
If you hunt areas where dirt bikes are legal....that may be another option. I picked up a Honda 250 quite a few years ago that works great on old mining roads, trails, and 2 track roads....where legal. A 4 wheeler is often a lot rougher and slower than a dirt bike. You may also be able to get into a lot rougher areas with a dirt bike?
