Chukars in Nevada

How's the Chukar population look this year?

I have herd about 20 or so where I have been deer hunting. I jumped about 8 little ones with there mom last week.

I've been seeing a lot of young birds the last month or so, possibly a good 2nd hatch. This is only in a couple of mountain ranges in N. Nevada.

in one scouting trip in eastern nevada I saw an honest 300 to 400. it looks like they had a great year..

Scouting/huntin antelope in NW Nevada I saw several coveys. Most were 2 adults with 7-10 chicks. Ages varied from week old chicks to almost grown ones. Not sure of the double hatch or just different hatch times. Very promising after huntin the 06 survivors last year.

the count came out and it is supposed to be an average year, which will beat the pants off last year good luck all

Good, I have been seeing alot of birds this year, took my son out opening day during junior weekend he got 3. Last year didnt see many, must of had a 2nd hatch this year.

Godsten, I used to get a little, one page flyer on Nevada chukar counts they took while flying helicopters. Is that still availible and how do I get back on the list?? Or is it on the NDOW website???

LAST EDITED ON Oct-20-08 AT 11:29AM (MST)[p]I guess they just started up the heli flights after a bit of a break cause they received some funds form the chukar association of nevada if i remember correctly. I think this is what your looking for.
