This has generally been a sufficient combo hunt to go on while accumulating points, but not this year...cloudless, blue skies with temps. hovering in the 60's...averaged 8 miles a day (12.5 miles opening day) and it was still tough not to run into orange. Finally got some snow (above 9000') on Fri. night and last night, but I had to leave early this morning. There's always a ton of camps in the 4 Mile Park and Middle Thompson Creek areas, but I've never ran into this much orange. Didn't here of alot of success in many of these camps either or from the DOW officer. Heard one guy got a nice 5X6, but that was it. While hunting I saw zero bulls/cows; 1 forkie; 6 does. Of course, in the 1st 20 mins. of my drive down the mountain I saw 12 does moving down off the low-level ridges. Oh well, I guess that's why they call it hunting and not harvesting. I do have an Eastern WY hunt (plus pheasants in SD next weekend!!!) to fall back on, but this was truly a frustrating start.
