Does anybody Know the reason behind the bullet length vs diameter retriction?
I shoot several White muzzleloaders and these guns like their long bullets.
Also read a post on another site that Colo dropped this restriction, but it still in the rags.

Thanks.

It has not been dropped. I shoot a .504 white and use No Excuses 460 grains.

I usually shoot my .451s with my own 475 grn bullets.
But why the restriction on bullet length.I know why on the sabots.
If I draw this year I wiil have to take my .504 & pickup some NE 460 bullets then.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-15-06 AT 08:50PM (MST)[p]The 460 grain NE bullets are legal in 50 caliber. That may be what you are saying, but I am not sure what a .504 is. I own a 50 caliber and a 54 caliber. Beyond that, I don't know the exact measurements.

The bore diameters of White muzzleloaders are .504 of an inch. That is what we were refering to. It is essentially a 50 caliber. One of the reasons that the No Excuses shoot so well from them is that they are speced to have a bullet diameter of .503. That is why I refered to my White as a .504.

SAM,
You didn't say what animals you will be hunting, but just in case you didn't know. The minimum caliber for elk in Colorado is 50 caliber.

Will be hunting deer,I know the minimum cal. for deer is .40 cal but I want to hunt with my .451.
I can hunt with my .504, but want to use the 45s.
