Colt stops selling long arms to retail market

I'm not the biggest Colt fan on the earth but I still hate to see American firearm companies pull the plug, even if it's only retail long guns.

The only constant is change!

Pythons stopped being made 13 years ago. I doubt this will do much to bump the price on those. If anything for Colt to stop rifle sales to civilians is just as bad if not worse than the Walmart stunt and the timing couldn't have been worse than just after this Walmart fiasco.

Bess I don't know if you remember back in 2000 when Smith & Wesson caved to the feds on gun control during the Clinton administration. That move killed the company, people boycotted S&W in a big way, dropping their sales almost 50% overnight. I remember being at SHOT SHOW that year and it wasn't a good time to be an employee in the S&W booth.

The only thing that saved Smith & Wesson was that it was purchased by new owners and there was a reversal of policy. It still took a long time for them to recover from that.

I bought a fistful of MATCH HBARS in the early 90s. $550 each is what I paid. Still have them. One has a DPMS 20" bull barrel on it along with a new Timney trigger. Had to Dremel out the sear block to make it fit.

The other are waiting comfortably.

?Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. "

If those Hbars are preban they bring big money in several states in which pre-ban AR's are the only ones legal to own there.
