Anybody cooking a turkey they took this year?

Got a buddy who bought a deep fryer, drew a Nevada tag, hunted hard and didn't even hear one gobble. Heard they taste pretty good though....

Happy Thanksgiving!

I ended up making jerky out of mine from last year. I had been told that some of the meat was pretty tough compared to a pen raised turkey so I took the safe route. Jerky came out awesome.

I've had them deep fried and roasted like a normal turkey. My advice is don't even try to eat the legs. Those babies are so tough you can barely cut the meat.

The breast meat is great.

Shot a nice gobbler this morning. I like to breast them out along with the legs and thighs. I like to substitute the meat for chicken in stir fry, dumplings, turkey salad sandwichs, any of those store bought boxed meals where you just add chicken. Good stuff...

Hope this spring I can either get drawn locally or go to Cal for some turkey hunting. I appreciate the cook hints.

Guess watching the Nuge is having it's effect as I'd rather eat more "backstraps from the bbq" than store bought from Safeways.
