looking for some help not your hot spots Cow hunting in Oct gun looking for a starting point. Can anyone help!!

This cow tag was easy to draw because there are very FEW elk in the Rubies. They are there and they issue licenses so they can eradicate them from the area.

I have been up there for several years and have not seen an elk anywhere. I have heard reports of sightings but have not laid my eyes on one.

Go back in the archives of the Nevada forum and you will see that every year someone draws this tag and asks the very same question.

Get up there early and start scouting ask the locals as they are there and if anyone has seen the elk it would be them.

Sorry I am no help but I don't think you are going to get anyone to help as I said they are there but not in big numbers.

Harrison pass Rd on the marsh side, drive north across two cattle guards, 8500 ft ridge at sunrise, follow ridge through junipers to south East side of Green mountain peak somewhere around 10 000 ft. The valley is at 6500.

Been going there for 23 years and always the same thing.

Foot access only and it's a bear of a hike but doable. When we hunt it for muley, we start hiking at 3 am. Last time we stayed all day, shot at 5 pm and got back to the truck at 10 pm. Long days...worth it.
