Craig-Maybell area horses

I am going to be hunting 4th season in the Maybell-Craig area with a bull and cow tag in hand. With the weather I think that elk have been run from hell and high water during 3rd season both public and private and might be holed up in some tougher access spots.

Might be looking for a horse packout and just wanted to have the option.

There is not a single place in 3 that you can not pack an elk out in less than 1/2 a day. Absolutely not needed at all...

Heck I am having a hard time imagining a place where you could kill an elk in 3 that was more than 800 yards from a road...

Thanks...use to hunt there when i was kid and have not been back since and that was like 4 decades ago....that's good and bad I guess...

Ya that's more of an area to take a kid or old lady who cant walk very good.

Funny I was thinking after making a round five hour round trip to get water to hike back up to my bivy elk hunt camp in NM this year maybe and easy one for a change!!!!
