I have seen on a lot of the pictures of deer and elk that the hunters are placing their tags around the antlers. BUT in the regs for lets say COLO for instance, that the tags are to be attached to the CARCASS and remain there till the meat is processed.
Wheather or not the Game Warden will site you I don't know but I sure would not want to loose my animal and get a ticket and fined for this slight misjudgement.
When we were in NV back in Oct. when the deer were skinned out in the field I made sure the tags were attached to the leg bone above the knee joint as it was and has been done this way in other states.
