I can't say what will happen here, but I have a guess it won't be cheap. I recently sent a pair of 10x42 Kahles binos to Swarovski because the clarity was bad. Swarovski in Rhode Island receives all the Kahles warranty work and they may actually be the same company. They forwarded the binoculars on to Kahles in Austria.
About 3-4 weeks after it was received by Kahles, I contacted Swarovski to see what was going on as I had heard nothing for a long time. The Swarovski rep claimed extensive damage had occurred to the binoculars and wanted $ 400 in repairs. This was for a binocular that had been hardly used and was purchased new from Sportsman Warehouse for less than a $ 1,000. I felt I was being scammed as these binos were hardly used and had always been handled in a binocular system. I told them to send them back. I doubt I will ever buy anymore German glass. I plan to stick with Maven, Leupold, Vortex and any other company that stands behind what they sell.
just sayin...mh
