Deer 44

Was thinking about putting in for unit 44 buck controlled hunt. Anyone know how much of unit 44 burned up last year. Any good websites to look at a map of the fire areas? I guess the Fish and Game issued rain checks for the hunt last year for hunters that didn't want to hunt last season because of the fire ? Anyone that had this tag last year do any good. I have never hunted this unit. It's been awhile since I've been there. Just wanted to get some ideas if this hunt will be super crowded with the rain check hunters plus those that draw this year. Did a lot of the best deer hunting areas burn up or is it still a good hunt even with the burn areas and extra hunters this year? Thanks for any advice in advance that will make my decision easier whether or not to put in for this hunt. You can Pm me if you want.

Being that the fire rolled through there and there are some rain checks to be given this season I highly doubt they would do the rain checks + the total 225 tags in the unit... Atleast I don't think it would make much sense if they did it that way... With that said, I know of atleast 5 bucks over 180" that came from the unit last season... So I'm assuming there are still a few good spots to hunt. 8)

It's a controlled hunt with a lot of country opened up for glassing, I think the harvest will be great this year for those that hunt it right.
